A UK engineer who cares about the craft — and the people around it.
I'm Craig Potter, a Technical Lead based in the UK. For the better part of a decade I've built and maintained web applications with Laravel, Livewire and Vue — the kind of software teams rely on every day and rarely think about, which is exactly how I like it.
These days my focus is integrations: connecting products to the third-party tools and APIs they depend on, and making those connections resilient when the other side inevitably changes, rate-limits, or goes down.
My north star is clean, readable code that's easy to change six months later. I'm equally at home in the infrastructure layer: I enjoy the quiet satisfaction of a smooth CI pipeline, a zero-downtime deploy, and dashboards that stay green.
I contribute to and maintain a handful of open-source packages because the ecosystem gave me my career, and giving back keeps me sharp. If it saves another developer an afternoon, it was worth writing.
Above all of that, I'm a dad. Parenting rewired how I think about patience, priorities, and what "done" really means. I try to bring that same steadiness to the teams I work with.
Clarity over cleverness
Code is read far more than it's written. I optimise for the next person.
Calm systems
Good infrastructure is invisible. I build things that don't page you at 3am.
People first
The best technical decisions serve the humans using and maintaining the product.
